Diamond Push-Up

The diamond push-up also known as the triangle push-up is a close grip pushing progression used to target the triceps and minimize the load on the shoulders and pec muscles.  This is a great bodyweight exercise for isolating the triceps while still engaging the entire body.  The diamond push-up also transfers well to horizontal and vertical pressing, making it a great accessory exercise for increasing strength in exercises such as the barbell press and the military press.

how to perform Diamond Push-Up

To set up for this exercise start by lying on the ground, your hand placement will be narrow with fingers tips making a diamond shape and hands will be under the chin. Pull toes under and lock your knees out. Push up into the top of the push-up position. Remember that your body should all rise up simultaneously. Keep the hips from sagging. Lower your body back down so that your elbows are bending around 90 degrees and be sure to brace your core. Breathing cues should be exhaling while pressing up and inhaling on the way down. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
